Vaughan,
Ontario-based Matias Corporation has just one product, but it's
a good one. The innovative Half Keyboard is about one-third the
size of other folding keyboards currently on the market for hand-held
units from Palm, Handspring, IBM, Compaq and their competitors.
It's a snap for any touch-typist to learn - and hunt-and-peckers
can also adapt. This nifty Canuck device's minuscule booth has
been drawing huge crowds at recent COMDEXes. The basic model goes
for $150 Canadian direct from Matias, or online through a US-based
distributor (www.halfkeyboard.com) for $99 U.S. ($157 Canadian,
but no tax). The wearable wrist-mounted version (shown with a
Palm Pilot III), comes with an adapter for the hand-held and sells
for $450.
