LAS VEGAS,
Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ — Matias Corporation's Half Keyboard
for Palm™ (Nasdaq: PALM)
and Handspring™ (Nasdaq: HAND)
made its debut at Comdex this week, amid crowds of curious onlookers.
"The
crowds here are unbelievable. Our booth is in the same building as
Palm and Handspring and we've had constant traffic the whole week,"
said Edgar Matias, President of the company.
The
Half Keyboard's Palm-sized dimensions make it ideal for use on an
airplane or other cramped quarters, without sacrificing comfort or
typing speed.
Its
patented skill transfer design allows users to touch type with one
hand, using their existing skills, at speeds almost as fast as with
both hands (up to 88% of normal typing rates).
Typing
with one hand leaves the other hand free for a pen or mouse, allowing
the user to easily enter both text and graphics. This makes note taking
on a Palm much faster and more flexible than using a regular keyboard,
which limits users to text only. Now you can draw diagrams too.
The
company also demonstrated a wearable model of the Half Keyboard, which
turns a PalmOS unit into an inexpensive wrist-worn wearable computer,
ideal for remote data collection applications.

wearable has been drawing huge crowds. It took me an hour to cross
the show floor yesterday. People kept stopping me for a demonstration,"
said Vesna Vojnic, Marketing Manager for Matias.
A Half
Keyboard for PC-based wearable computers, such as those by ViA
and Xybernaut
(Nasdaq: XYBR),
is also available.
The
Half Keyboard retails for US$99. The Wearable Half Keyboard retails
